If Intel had its way every single device on the planet would be powered by one of its processors, but one thing is holding them back from world domination, namely their dependence on x86 architectures. ARM Processors have proven to be the faster and more power efficient design for mobile up until now, leaving Intel to spectate jealously from the sidelines. So how will Intel find its way inside some of the most coveted consumer devices on the...

Google is said to be prepping its own music store for a fall 2010 launch . The internet giant had announced a web-based iTunes rival during its I/O developer’s conference last month. The music store was revealed as a new section of the Android marketplace, but knowing Google, its music plans could be far too ambitious for the service to remain confined to Android. According to a Cnet report, quoting music industry sources, Google is indeed...

Barely a day after Apple introduced iPhone OS 4 and made a beta available to developers, details have begun to trickle out about the new multi-tasking operating system. One enterprising reader of The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) ran system monitoring tool iStat on an iPhone running v4 and came up with the screenshot above. Most of it looks fairly unassuming, but iChat is new, and the folks at TUAW make a huge leap form here, assuming that...

Word are wonderful for conveying information, but sometimes not so hot for communicating. Pictures, by comparison, are transcendent. Not only are they capable of passing along a lot more information (the old “thousand words” adage), they don’t suffer from the human filter requisite of language. Google figured this out with Street View and Images : communication is picture-based, not word-based. Limits on the use of pictures or images are...

To be perfectly honest, we’re tired of hearing about Apple’s tablet, which thus far has consisted of one rumor after another without any confirmation from Apple. That’s going to change next month , or so we hope. According to The Financial Times, Apple has rented a stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for several days late in January. Citing “people familiar with the plans,” TFT says Apple...

While giving a speech at the American University of Dubai, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang held nothing back in declaring his affection for Macs (while taking a dig at Intel in the process). “Apple uses the best technology for their [computers],” Huang said. “Apple says to their customers: ‘If you buy a computer from us, you can be sure we have selected the best technology inside for you’. Their promise to consumers isn’t...

And now, we present an inside look at the creation of the possibly upcoming MechWarrior movie: Movie Exec A: “Hey [Movie Exec B], you know what people seem to be able to relate to right now, in this time of economic hardship? Giant robots.” Movie Exec B: “Yeah! And you know what goes great with giant robots, don’t you? That’s right: vague nostalgic ties into this generation’s childhood, ala Transformers 2.” Movie Exec A: “Hey,...
